Onkalo Nuclear Fuel Repository (part 3)

Budget for this project is estimated at €818 million, including construction, encapsulation, and operating costs. It will be covered by the State Nuclear Waste Management Fund which receives fees from electricity generation.

Onkalo will accept canisters of spent fuel for around one hundred years. After that the access tunnel will be backfilled and sealed.
