Hegigio Gorge Pipeline Bridge

Hegigio Gorge Pipeline Bridge
Pipe bridge on the Hegigio Gorge, Papua Nueva Guinea

A pipeline suspension bridge 500 m (1,650 ft) above the Hegigio river in Papua Nueva Guinea. Completed in 2005, it carries oil from the Southeast Mananda oil field to the Agogo production facility, a stretch of about 16 Km (10 miles).

In February 2018, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake caused severe damage to the bridge. After a damage assessment study, a decision was made to remove the bridge. The removal project started in 2022 with expected completion in 2023.
